Wells Sanitary District is looking for a Full-Time Wastewater Treatment/Laborer Operator. The candidate shall be responsible for a variety of services necessary in the maintenance of the pump stations, collection system and the treatment facility. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent. Duties include but are not limited to: maintaining and repairing the physical plant and pump stations and all of their components; maintaining sewer lines; dewatering sludge; performing inspections; preparing samples; performing laboratory analysis; going on call to respond to emergencies and breakdowns at the plant and pump stations; conducting necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis, and performing additional tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Must possess a State of Maine Wastewater Operator’s License Grade I License or higher or have the ability to secure the license within 18 months of employment and must attend continual education and training to maintain wastewater license certification. Must possess appropriate driver’s license. Solid interpersonal skills required. Must be dependable, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.
