The Town of York, a coastal community comprised of the villages of Cape Neddick, York Harbor, York Village and York Beach, is accepting applications for the position of Lifeguard Captain.

The Lifeguard Captain will be responsible for assigning staff, organizing workouts, and the daily supervision of all lifeguard staff. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the town has a safe, certified, and trained staff and is responsible in preventing accidents through enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the beaches or waters. This is a semi seasonal salaried position.  Lifeguard Captain will work during the months of:

January – February: Recruiting and training guards.

May: Preparing for the beach as season.

June – Labor Day: Directly managing the beaches and lifeguard staff

September: Wrapping up the season and following up on necessary tasks as needed.

This is a salaried exempt position that must be willing to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays and extended hours when needed.

Salary Range: 30 Weeks at $1500 per week ($45,000 per year)
