The City of Bath is seeking a Mechanic to maintain the City’s fleet. If you enjoy automotive and heavy truck work, problem solving, and providing an essential service to the community, this job is for you. Daily tasks involve evaluating and repairing a variety of municipal vehicles such as dump trucks, snowplows, pickup trucks, the Trolley, and Fire and Rescue vehicles.

Does this describe you?

You have substantial experience and/or training in automotive repair, and knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, computers, gas and diesel engines, welding, and transmissions. You are adept at working independently and with others, and can successfully manage scheduling, record keeping, purchasing, and budgeting related to the work. You have a valid State Driver's License with CDL endorsement and a valid state Motor Vehicle Inspection license for Class A and D vehicles. You like working with your hands, take pride in your work, and value a job well-done.

This position is part of the Public Works Union and has a starting wage of $27.85. Generous benefits include paid time off, sick time, enrollment in the MEPERS retirement plan, wellness programs, and optional health, dental, and disability insurances.
