The Town of Gorham’s Recreation Department is seeking energetic, patient and enthusiastic individuals for its part-time seasonal positions of Before & After the Bell Counselor. Counselors act as positive role models for children K-5 and are responsible for providing a fun, safe and enjoyable experience for participants in the Before and After School Program. Duties include organizing and facilitating fun, age-appropriate games and activities for children grades K-5 designed to build self-esteem, teach teamwork, new skills, fair play and good sportsmanship, and encourage interaction. Counselors maintain accurate attendance rosters and ensure the safety of program participants at all times among other responsibilities.

The work schedule may change based on the needs of the program and activities. Multiple schedules are available to choose from, including 7:00am to 9:30am or 3:00 to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.

The Town of Gorham offers competitive pay and employees accrue Earned Paid Leave in proportion to the number of hours worked. Pay starts at $16.00 and ranges up to $16.50 per hour and is commensurate with experience.

REQUIREMENTS:  Prior-related experience working with school-age children preferred. CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
