Our Police Department has a great relationship with the community and strong support from Residents, the Town Council and Town management. With a new fleet of vehicles, the Department will provide the training, experience and tools needed for you to reach your maximum potential. Officers are provided with cutting-edge equipment, uniforms and all related apparel.
The essential job functions for a Patrol Officer include patrolling the community, traffic enforcement, responding to calls for service and addressing community concerns related to crime and quality of life issues.

**Attention Currently Certified Law Enforcement Officers:** The Yarmouth Police Department offers true lateral entry consideration with hourly rates ranging from a starting pay of $31.87 to $36.84.
Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and should have a strong background in law enforcement through education and/or experience.
- Applicants must be able to meet all certification standards as established by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA), to include a physical agility test (PAT).
- Final Candidates will be required to undergo an extensive background investigation, which will include both psychological and polygraph exams and a pre-employment physical.
Preference and potential waivers may be given to Certified full-time Officers.
