THE TOWN OF SOUTH BERWICK is accepting applications for a Public Works Equipment Operator/Laborer. This position assists with street maintenance and repair projects by performing manual work and operating equipment.  Duties include operating snow plowing and sanding equipment, heavy dump trucks, hand and power tools, and roadside mowers. The Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance, care, upkeep, repair and beautification projects of highways, streets, parking lots, and other town property.

Successful candidates for this position must be at least 18 years of age and have working knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques relative to road construction and maintenance. Must be able to lift, move and/or push equipment which may weigh 100+ lbs.  Candidate is required to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions for long periods of time.

Requirements

High School education; a minimum of two years of trade experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a vehicle.

The Town of South Berwick offers an excellent pay and benefit package.

Pay commensurate with experience in the range of $25-$27/hour.  Applications accepted until filled.
