Monmouth -Full Time Recreation Director
The Town of Monmouth is searching for a Recreation Director to oversee all aspects of the town’s recreation activities, aquatic programs, and facilities.
Position Summary:
This will be a full-time (32 hour per week) position. The Recreation Director role involves planning, staff management, program development and coordination. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, and a commitment to community engagement. This is a new position, and the selected candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape the position and create new programs for the community. This job requires flexibility, as the schedule is irregular with varying shift times and days, and may include evenings, nights, and weekends. Salary will be based on experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Plans and develops a wide range of activities for children and adults
- Maintains payroll records and creates schedules for subordinates
- Develops and adheres to a responsible departmental budget
- Evaluates recreational needs and recommends improvements/change
- Staffs recreation related committees
Qualifications:
This position requires progressive experience in recreation leadership in a supervisory capacity and a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with specialization in recreation leadership and management desired. An equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Waterfront Lifeguarding certification with corresponding certifications in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, and a Basic Swim Instructor certification; Water Safety Instructor certification desired.
This is full-time (32-hour) position with a generous benefits package including MEPERS and/or 457 deferred compensation plan, health insurance from the Maine Municipal Association Health Trust, dental, and 3-weeks paid vacation calculated on a 40/hr work week.
