The Saco Police Department is currently accepting applications for two (2) experienced Patrol Officers to serve as dedicated School Resource Officers (SROs). This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and the broader Saco community.

Position Overview

As School Resource Officers, the selected candidates will serve as key liaisons between law enforcement and the Saco School Department. Each officer will be assigned to a specific school group within the City of Saco:

• One SRO will be assigned to grades K–8

• One SRO will be assigned to Thornton Academy

These positions are designed for officers who are passionate about working with youth and dedicated to fostering safe, supportive, and positive school environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as an on-site law enforcement officer for assigned schools

• Support school staff in enforcing school rules and policies

• Build strong, trust-based relationships with students, staff, and families

• Address and help resolve student-related issues with professionalism and care

• Actively engage in preventative and community policing strategies within the school setting
