The Town of Bar Harbor is seeking a full-time Sustainable Economic Development Coordinator to support the Town’s vision for a resilient, diverse, and thriving community. This position focuses on promoting sustainable economic growth, supporting tourism and land use planning, analyzing local trends, and coordinating with partners like the National Park Service and regional organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for sustainable economic and community development
- Analyze data related to tourism, workforce, housing, and infrastructure
- Prepare reports and planning documents
- Facilitate public outreach and engagement
- Assist with ordinance updates and the comprehensive plan
- Manage or assist with grants and special projects
- Supports Town Boards including application reviews and preparing staff reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, community development, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong collaboration, communication, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with Bar Harbor’s unique challenges and opportunities is a plus
