The Town of Exeter, New Hampshire (population approx. 16,000) is seeking a civil engineer with municipal experience to serve as a member of its Department of Public Works team, providing valuable technical support on a broad array of municipal engineering issues. Exeter is a thriving seacoast community, rich in history located just 50 miles from Boston, 30 miles from Manchester and 65 miles from Portland, Maine. Exeter is also host to Exeter Hospital and the prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy. The Town Engineer receives general supervision from the Director of Public Works, and responsibilities include administering capital projects related to water, sewer, drainage, roads and bridges; review of plans submitted to the Planning Board, designing and inspecting municipal construction projects, and preparing asset management programs for town infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with additional training in pavement management and hydraulic modeling, and at least five (5) years of experience in closely related work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in the position. Salary range to $140,966; starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Exeter is an equal opportunity employer.
