The Town of Orono is seeking a qualified applicant to join our office team as Deputy Town (lead) Clerk. This position is full-time, 40 hours(four, ten-hour days, Mon – Thurs) per week, part of a collective bargaining union, and reports directly to the Town Clerk. This position requires significant public interaction, which includes tax and sewer collection, the issuance of licenses, registrations and permits, collecting associated fees, accurately recording documents and vital statistics, assisting with elections, compiling daily work for monthly reporting and a strong focus for administering the General Assistance program.

Applicants must have experience with Microsoft and Google Office platforms, TRIO, or financial accounting software, and an ability to learn several data programs.  Desired candidate(s) should have their MTCCA (CCM) certification (*or have ability to obtain one), Maine Notary and work experience which supports maintaining confidentiality, effective organization, oral and written communications with a keen attention to detail.  Candidates which demonstrate work history in the areas of public administration, general assistance, motor vehicles administration, and/or elections experience shall be strongly considered first   

For a qualified candidate, appropriate training will be provided to meet the multiple demands of the position. *Candidates lacking an MTCCA Municipal Clerk  certification at the time of hire are expected to obtain one within the first three years of employment.
