Job Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for town bookkeeping/accounting services including accounts receivable, general ledger, banking, bank reconciliations, preparation of payroll disbursement warrants, financial reporting, responding to inquiries from vendors and working with the town’s auditors. Considerable knowledge of general bookkeeping, accounting, and banking practices, preferably in municipal government as well as experience with computerized accounting software (TRIO, Munis, etc.) and banking systems. Maintain and update personnel records, including payroll, benefits, and tax filings. Assist with other financial and administrative duties as needed.
Work must be performed in accordance with applicable laws and following generally accepted accounting practices. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Town Manager. Work is reviewed through observation, verification, internal audit, and fiscal audit.
Requirements
- College degree with a major in accounting preferred.
- Experience in municipal bookkeeping, accounting, or office management.
- Experience with TRIO Software is a plus but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to position responsibilities.
