The Portland Water District is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as Wastewater Chief Operator, Systems in our Wastewater Division. This key position provides strategic leadership and oversight of PWD’s wastewater collection systems and 76 pumping stations, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operations. The position manages personnel, budgets, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure planning within the wastewater division. Experience in the public sector is desirable.
The Wastewater Chief Operator, Systems is responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of wastewater services that meet or exceed environmental standards and public health requirements. Every day provides a new opportunity to make a positive and profound impact.
The successful candidate must possess a two (2) or four (4) year undergraduate degree. This may be substituted with five to seven years of commensurate experience. Must hold or obtain a NEWEA Voluntary Collection System Grade IV license, possess three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a utility operation and maintenance, or in a similar service industry, with increasing supervisory experience.
