The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive department, devoted to community involvement, utilizing a team-oriented approach. Our excellent benefit package includes competitive pay and offers a lateral entry option commensurate with experience. Our base pay is $21.31 to $21.95 per hour. The Department highly considers prior experience when determining the starting pay rate. With the Department's educational incentive benefit and a four-year degree; the pay range for this position will be $24.15 to $24.88 per hour. Town benefits include options for health, dental and/or life insurances; short-term disability, retirement plan choices, educational reimbursement, paid vacations, sick time and paid holidays/floaters. Additional benefits include educational assistance/incentive, physical fitness bonus ($350 to $1,445 per year), paid gym memberships (up to $350 per year), yearly clothing allowance and a 20-year retirement option.
The Town of Brunswick Police Department continues to offer a $5,000 signing bonus to existing Certified Law Enforcement Officers. Lateral entry pay range is up to $28.46 per hour.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and attained an Associate's Degree (or 60 college credits) or equivalent work/military history with specialization in criminal justice preferred. A minimum score of 50 is required on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) ALERT test. There are multiple testing opportunities available in early 2019. While successful completion of the MCJA Physical Agility Test (PAT) is helpful; the Brunswick Police Department will conduct a required PAT for all candidates on either Saturday, March 23rd or Sunday, March 24, 2019. Candidates should hold these dates, pending confirmation. Details will be forthcoming to candidates following application. Clearance by the candidate’s physician is required to participate in Brunswick's PAT. Leading candidates will then undergo an Oral Board interview, background investigation, polygraph, psychological and a medical exam. The hired candidate would attend the next 18-week Basic Law Enforcement Training Program at MCJA in August, 2019.
