SUMMARY: The Lewiston Public Library is seeking an individual with excellent customer service, technology, and adult programming skills to help deliver services to patrons in the Adult & Teen Services Department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree in Library Science or a related field is required (Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 credit hours of coursework in Library Science is preferred.) Ideal candidates will possess a high level of computer literacy, reference and information discovery skills, and the creativity and initiative to develop and present a variety of engaging library programs for adults. Other desirable skills include experience designing promotional materials in print and digital formats, familiarity with WordPress and/or basic coding, strong written and oral communication skills, effective time management skills, patience, assertiveness, and comfort working with patrons and coworkers of diverse ages and backgrounds.
WORK ACTIVITIES: This position is responsible for coordinating the department’s library programming for adults. Other duties include staffing the reference desk to help patrons use information resources, library computers, and other forms of digital technology, promoting library programs and services via social media, editing web pages, and working collaboratively with community partners and library staff.
SCHEDULE: Hours vary- some evenings and Saturday work required. The Lewiston Public Library is open Mon-Thurs 10am-7pm; Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm.
