Full Time Code Enforcement Officer - Town of Tremont

The Town of Tremont is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full time Code Enforcement Officer / Licensed Plumbing Inspector. This position is responsible for inspections of plumbing and enforcement of all local codes and land use regulations, and serves as the 911 Addressing Officer. The Code Officer must have the ability to interact with the public professionally in order to secure compliance. This full time position will also include some Deputy Clerk work such as collecting payments and answering inquiries and other administrative and clerical tasks. Customer service, education, and violation prevention are a primary responsibility.
The Code Enforcement Officer is expected to carry out his/ her responsibilities with initiative, independence, and confidentiality while exercising good problem-solving skills and professional judgment. Applicant must be certified or become certified as a Code Enforcement Officer/LPI within 12 months. In addition to required State certifications, the candidate must have a valid Class C State of Maine driver’s license, a good driving record, and a vehicle available for job use.
The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; excellent record keeping ability; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time benefits eligible position and pay is negotiable based on qualifications, excellent benefit package included.
