The Gardiner Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve in its community oriented and progressive police department. If you are presently a certified Law Enforcement Officer, or aspire for a career helping others in the public safety field, we'd like to hear from you!
The City of Gardiner offers competitive pay, with lateral entry pay commensurate with experience. Gardiner PD offers educational and/or military stipends, yearly clothing allowances, an employee/family health and dental plan option and Maine State Retirement (25 yrs, no age, 2/3 pay). The successful candidate, upon completion of field training, will be assigned to work patrol (12 hour schedule) and will be scheduled to have every other weekend off. Employees accrue 1 vacation and 1 sick day per month to start and are allowed to accrue compensatory time as well.
To be considered for this outstanding opportunity, applicants shall be at least 21 years of age (or 20 years of age with 60 college credits), and have a valid Maine driver's license. Candidates that are not full-time certified must have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test, have recently passed (WITHIN the last 12 months) the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's physical agility test and have successfully completed PHASE I training through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. The next dates of the ALERT test offered at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy as well as how to obtain the certification for Phase I can be found by visiting - http://www.maine.gov/dps/mcja/. Leading job candidates will undergo an oral board interview, background investigation, polygraph and or psychological testing and a medical exam.
Those with Maine Criminal Justice Academy Phase II or full-time, in state or out of state certification will be given preference and there will be an expedited and condensed hiring process for those officers that are full-time certified. No full time certification - $2500 upon successful completion of full-time police academy (BLETP) & $2500 upon successful completion of probation
Full-time officer certification with buyout - $5000 ($2500 at 1 yr. anniversary, $2500 at 2 yr. anniversary if buyout is not at yr 1,2 or 3)
Full-time officer certification with no buyout - $12,000 ($4000 @ end of FTO, $4000 @ 1yr & 2yr anniversary)
