Full Time Assessing Administrative Assistant - Town of Scarborough

 

The Town of Scarborough is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to join the Assessing Department. This is a customer service position that involves considerable contact with the public, as well as providing clerical support to the Assessor and Deputy Assessor. Duties include greeting the public, providing information, screening and directing calls, data entry and filing, maintaining real estate property records and personal property files, preparing official reports, reviewing tax collection data for accuracy, reviewing deeds, preparing and mailing personal property declaration forms, and other general administrative duties. This position reports directly to the Town Assessor.
 
Requirements for the position include: prior administrative experience; attention to detail and experience working with large volumes of detailed work and data; effective multitasking skills; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public; experience addressing customer service challenges with professionalism and tact; the ability to work independently; experience with the advanced features of word-processing programs; familiarity with database management and spreadsheet software programs. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Municipal experience, or training, education, or experience in a related field is preferred (e.g., appraising, paralegal, legal assistant). Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the Town.
