Town of Newcastle - Full Time Treasurer / Tax Collector

The Town of Newcastle is seeking an individual to serve as Town Treasurer / Tax Collector. This is a full time, year-round position.

Position requires extensive communication with taxpayers and citizens, the business community, financial institutions, municipal officials and other municipal employees.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of monthly and annual financial reports for municipal officials.
  • Assisting the Town Manager with monitoring of town funds, communicating with financial institutions and municipal officials.
  • Responding to taxpayer inquiries and requests for information regarding tax liens and foreclosures.
  • Managing weekly payroll processing.
  • Assembling bi-monthly Town warrant for review and approval by the Town Manager and Select Board.
  • Compiling all documentation required for annual external audit.
  • Preparing and managing tax commitment books and compiles bi-annual tax bills for residents.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Town Manager.
  • Assisting with motor vehicle / boat / snowmobile registrations
  • Assisting Town Clerk with election day staffing.

Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of Trio Software, but other candidates with similar experience are encouraged to apply.
