Traffic Control Officer Reserve - South Berwick

The primary purpose of this role is to direct and manage the flow of traffic at busy intersections during period of traffic congestion to ensure the free flow of traffic and safety of pedestrians.  Works under the general direction of the Police Chief in accordance with all applicable Maine State Laws, town policies and ordinances, and relevant state, federal and local regulations and standards.

The majority of the work is performed outdoors with frequent exposure to varying weather conditions and situations endangering personal safety.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent, working knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, ability to direct traffic and communicate clearly with hand signals.  Must be able to work without supervision and have the ability to make sound decisions.

Physical Requirements:  Regularly required to run, walk, and stand for long periods of time.  Use of arms and hands to direct traffic and clearly demonstrate and communicate directions.  Hearing must be adequate for communication and vision requires ability to discern colors and/or shades of colors.
