Last year at this time, the MWDA Board was trying to decide if COVID would disrupt the 2020 Spring Seminar. Here we are a year later, and COVID is still impacting our annual gathering. The good news is, we’ve found a way around it! In January of this year we held an extremely successful, web-based GA Basics workshop. We had over 100 participants for the half day session, and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. Participants particularly liked the ease with which they could ask questions and get immediate answers from MWDA Board members. It also enabled people from all corners of the state (and some islands!) to join the session. Based on the success of that workshop, we’ve decided to offer a one-day Spring Seminar using the same format. We’ll be touching on topics of a more advanced nature including burials, lump sums, evictions, disconnects, and reimbursements. There will be plenty of time for questions on these topics and more! We’ll also have a brief MWDA Annual Meeting followed by the presentation of the 2021 Maine Welfare Director of the Year Award.

For many of you, this webinar may provide the first opportunity to learn more about these difficult topics you encounter in your GA programs. The session is very affordable, particularly if you’re an MWDA member. If you’re not, the cost of membership will pay for itself in this session alone! I hope you can join us!
