Permanent Positions (30.0 Hours/Week)
Our Guest Services team (3-4 at all times) is responsible for safety and security duties at City Hall, checking in guests using City appointment software and handing out relevant forms to guests as necessary. This position also notifies departments of incoming visitors and deliveries and is responsible for detecting suspicious activity, preventing vandalism, thefts and other malicious behavior. The guest services staff will open and secure City Hall on a daily basis, place outdoor signage at visitor points of entry, retrieve signage at the end of each shift. In addition, the Facilities Guest Services Team will greet customers with respect and a positive attitude, provide general assistance to customers with questions, guide customers to the proper department or website and direct customers to public restrooms. This position will also monitor suspicious behavior and alert appropriate authorities if a concern is encountered, perform periodic walk-throughs of the building and monitor activity outside of the building as needed, and will maintain a daily log.
Requirements:
• Strong and effective communication skills, including strong active listening and speaking skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm during unusual occurrences, disturbances, or other stressful situations and ability to operate security and telecommunications systems.
• Ability to maintain security protocols by following established procedures.
• Ability to multitask and be aware of your surroundings.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible work schedule, basic computer skills including spreadsheets and Google Suite.
• Ability to sit/stand or walk throughout the shift.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience as security guard or receptionist or other closely related occupation.
• Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 8), $19.78-$20.63/hr.
