The Town of Brunswick Planning and Development Department is seeking a Principal Planner. This position is responsible for managing complex planning projects and programs; providing staff support to designated boards, commissions, or committees; crafting zoning ordinance amendments and developing other local planning-related legislation; researching and writing reports; assisting the Director and staff with site plan reviews; and other planning activities in support of the department. This position requires significant knowledge of planning and zoning laws and best practices, and effective facilitation skills. The Principal Planner coordinates assigned activities with other divisions and departments and provides complex administrative support to the Planning & Development Director.
This is a key staff position and a challenging opportunity in a fast-paced work environment, utilizing skills in the areas of detailed coordination, facilitation, and project management. This position will require making public presentations, strong and detailed writing skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills to assist our Town into the future.
The Principal Planner ideally would hold a degree in planning, urban planning or policy or in a closely related field and at least five (5) years of experience in planning and administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
The full salary range for this position is $82,332 to $106,937. The starting pay will be pursuant to qualifications and budgetary allowance.
