FULL-TIME TAX COLLECTOR

The Town of Lisbon is seeking a full-time Tax Collector to manage the collection and recording of town funds. This is an appointed, public officer position with a variety of responsibilities. The Tax Collector will oversee the collection of real estate, personal property, and sewer taxes, as well as research, file, and manage tax liens.
In addition, the role involves supervising the tax collection department, coordinating workflow, work schedules, and training for staff. The Tax Collector will also provide customer service related to tax billing, payments, abatements, and work with the assessor to ensure proper tax commitments.
Finally, the Tax Collector will assist with coordinating payments the Town must forward to the State of Maine, such as those related to MOSES.
This position does not include payroll responsibilities. Strong organizational and customer service skills are essential.
This is a full-time salaried position and pay grade G starts at $53,435.20/annually.
The Town of Lisbon offers an excellent benefits package; which includes up to 13 paid holidays (excluding those that fall on a Friday), two weeks sick and two weeks vacation leave for new employees (increases after 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of employment), optional life, dental, vision, and income protection insurance (all 100% paid by the employee), and a choice of retirement plans between a defined contribution 457 plan (with matching Town contributions) through MissionSquare or a defined benefit pension through MEPERS. The Town also pays up to 85% of the cost of health insurance and an HRA (depending on plan selection) or a $5,000 annual opt out payment with proof of existing health insurance.
